What is Alopecia?
Alopecia is a common autoimmune disorder that often results in unpredictable loss of hair.
What causes Alopecia?
Alopecia occurs when white blood cells attack the cells in follicles of hair, causing them to shrink and dramatically slow down production of hair. It is not known what causes the body’s immune system to target hair follicles.
How is Allopecia treated?
Alopecia treatment is based on the use of corticosteroids, anti-inflammatory drugs that can conquer the immune system. These are mostly managed through local injections, topical ointment application, or orally.
